1976 European Tour

ReReReTour 2026
Cambridge Rehearsal, April 11, 2026
On Saturday, April 11, 2026, a wonderful pre-ReReReTour rehearsal was held in Cambridge at Holden Chapel in Harvard Yard. Fourteen alumni/ae of the '76 Tour convened to rehearse the music of the upcoming 2026 ReReReTour.

The rehearsal was led by Michael Barrett, a four-year member of the Collegium (Harvard class of '98), a former assistant conductor of the Collegium, and presently, among other things, Music Director of The Boston Cecilia and Professor of Music at Berklee College of Music. Find out more about Michael here.

Following the rehearsal, the Collegium's alumni foundation (which was started in 1978 using excess proceeds from the '76 Tour) sponsored a delightful dinner for the rehearsal group with members of the Collegium's current student leadership. Much was learned by everyone about what had- and what had not- changed in the Collegium during the fifty years that separated our experiences singing in the chorus.
The rehearsal was live streamed to those who were unable to attend the rehearsal in person, and it was recorded. The video and audio of the rehearsal may be viewed and listened to below, and both may be downloaded at the link below, along with a transcript of the rehearsal.

Note that the rehearsal was videoed without any opportunity to pretest the audio and video parameters and in a venue that was not set up to make filming easy, so it's not always as clear as could be wished. Many, many thanks to Carol Hwang for making it possible for the rehearsal to be Zoomed for those who couldn't attend in person and for making the video, audio, and transcript of the rehearsal available to us all.
Download complete rehearsal video (1.2 Gb), audio (167 Mb). transcript & chat separately or together in a ZIP file (1.3 Gb).
Note that the rehearsal transcript reached through the above link above was created automatically from the video/audio of the rehearsal. As such, no distinctions were able to be made between the many different voices that are heard at different times during the rehearsal and, thus, that are shown in the transcript as speaking. Consequently, most of the words below are shown to be spoken by "Rehearsal General", though many of them were, in fact, spoken by the rehearsal's conductor, Michael Barrett. In a few instances- primarily at the beginning and end of the rehearsal, the name of the actual speaker has been inserted, but those are very limited. Finally, as in many automated transcripts, there are words and sentence constructions that are difficult to make sense of as they don't accurately reflect what was said.
